"For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord. Plans to prosper you and not to harm you. Plans to give you hope and a future."
How we work
Meghan’s Wish runs solely on donations and volunteer efforts and your donations are tax deductible. The way we have the most impact is when people donate financially, so volunteers can purchase items that are in the highest demand at the time. Other donated items can include:
Brand new, unopened travel size toiletries.
Brand new, packaged undergarments for all genders and ages.
If you are interested in volunteering, there are currently a few ways you can give of your time.
Help pack the emergency kits. Come to our headquarters or host a packing party with your friends. Putting these bags together is a huge help.
Write notes of encouragement to the children receiving these emergency kits. We put a note in every emergency kit.
According to an article in the Denver Post, 10,000 children spent time in foster care in 2016, either in foster families, group homes or residential care centers. On average, 14 children are removed from their parents and placed in the child welfare system each day, according to data from the Colorado Department of Human Services.
Since its inception, Meghan’s Wish has created over 400 emergency kits for children. Due to the high number of children being placed with foster families, the need for emergency kits greatly exceeds this.
The goal of Meghan’s Wish is to increase and streamline production of Meghan’s Wish emergency kits in Denver, CO so that no child is placed with a foster family without these basic needs.
